Kiwi Kids Christchurch Preschool Christchurch Preschool

What happens in the Kiwi Kids Christchurch Preschool all day?

A time to arrive and settle in.

A fun way to start our day is our Welcome Mat Time. We gather together to share our news, to be introduced to visitors or new members to our community, to be informed, to discuss what we like to do today.

Mat time is followed by a time to be nourished. At Kiwi Kids we provide a separate dining room for the children to have their meals.

We aim to provide healthy nutritious meals offering children a wide variety of foods to try. We soon hope to gain a Healthy Hearts Award from the Heart Foundation.

A child directed programme is developed from what the teachers notice about the children’s interests throughout the day our play based programme covers many learning experiences from messy play where fine motor skills are developed necessary for writing to technology (carpentry) and puzzles where the beginning concepts for maths and science are experienced.

Christchurch Pre School

Teachers are always noticing and responding to the children’s interests these are recorded as learning stories that are placed in the child’s learning journal.

The pre-schools programme is planned to include all activities that will support and extend all children’s learning.

In our centre we hope you will find a home a way from home, where children are nurtured and supported by our fully trained qualified teachers.  Kiwi Kids understands that this is a difficult time for both you and your child. But our experienced team will help settle you and your child into our friendly, safe, fun, loving environment.

During the day your child will experience music sessions, messy play, stories, and have a chance to socialise with other children. They will learn new skills that will enable them to solve problems, develop strength and co ordination and there will be time to explore and discover how the natural world works.

The centre is guided by the NZ curriculum – Te Whariki where all children’s needs are met on an individual basis and this includes nutrition and sleeping.

Each child is regularly observed and these recordings are written as learning stories, which are then placed in their learning journal. These are available for parents and whanau to view at any time.

This is an important time in your child’s development and to give you “Peace of Mind” to know your child is safe and secure all our teachers are early childhood trained. It goes without saying; they have respect, passion and commitment for the education and well being of your child.
