Christchurch Nursery School

So What Happens for the babies and toddlers in our Christchurch Nursery school?

A time to be nurtured.

Children arrive and are handed over to a team member who will support the little ones in settling, feeling safe and secure.

A time to have fun and settle in for the day, we have a music session.

A time to be nourished, we have morning tea serving varieties of fresh fruit and crackers. Lunch is provided to babies in consultation with parents and new foods are slowly introduced until the child is able to partake in the daily menu provided by the centre.

A time to learn new skills, and to practice them.

A time to solve problems and find solutions.

A time to move and develop strength and co-ordination.

A time to explore and discover how things around me work.

A time to develop relationships with those I spend my day with. Adults are always present to role model and guide children thru conflict.

After all that activity and food, a time to rest and to sleep. In the Nursery the children are cared for on a Primary Care Giving basis and the babies will be fed and sleep on a need to basis. As they grow into toddlers, most children have one sleep per day after lunch.

The adults at Kiwikids respect children, they set clear limits on behaviour. The children soon learn how to cope with upsets with other children.

First and foremost In planning our day and programme the children’s needs come first.
