Korean Visit - February 2006

A number of Preschool Teachers from Korea visited us today on a tour around several countries. We were very honoured to have them visit us as we were the only preschool in New Zealand choosen due to our website.

One of our team members greeted the visitors with a traditional Maori welcome a powhiri. The children then greeted our visitors with our visitors cd which has various new zealand themed songs. The look on our visitors faces were proof of a job well done. In turn the visitors sung us a song that was very popular in Korea, Pokarekare Ana in Korean.

The whole preschool was a buzz of activiy which is a credit to all the hard work the preschool team had put in to make the visit an enjoyable one.

Philosophy

June 2005

We believe that parents are the first and most influential educators in a childs life therefore every family will be respected and honoured as partners. We believe every child is unique and the foundations of childrens learning are created in early childhood therefore at Kiwikids we strive to work together with parents and whanau, nurturing, caring for and educating the little ones in our care to be responsible citizens as the children of today are the adults of the future.

It takes a community to raise a child successfully, we also recognise due to the complex nature of family life today that the support needed may come if the form of childcare at our centre therefore in addition our childcare service we offer the opportunity to partake in parenting courses, and for parents who seek to build on their knowledge and skills library is available and most importantly our door is always open for informal chats.

It is our hope that the childrens whanau will experience a warm, welcoming environment where they feel safe, respected and that they come to belong to a loving and supportive community.

At KiwiKids we believe that every child is unique and special and we aspire for our children to become co operative, competent, confident, communicators and learners. Children in our care will be encouraged to celebrate their cultural, ethnic and religious differences and will be provided with opportunities that will enable them to begin to understand the world around them.

We believe children learn through play, imitation and role modelling, and it is through their own experiences and experiments that they will come to understand the world around them.

The daily programmes are based upon the childrens interest, strengths, abilities, and talents. The teachers will support the childrens learning and they will be good role models to the children.

The Kiwikids charter offers a special Christian aspect to feed the Heart and Soul, Mind and Body of all who belong to our community.
KiwiKids have a focus on developing childrens knowledge of values + virtues such as being loving, confident, competent, trustworthy + responsible

Together we are working to nurture, care and educate the adults of the future
