Toddlers 2 - 3 Years Old

Individual Learning

Each child learns in their own way. Our programme in the junior preschool builds on an individual child’s current needs, strengths and interests. By allowing children in our care choices, we encourage them to take responsibility for their own learning from a young age.

Following the philosophy established in our nursery, your child will be ‘someone special’ and ‘special to someone’. This person is called the Primary Caregiver. Through this attachment a nurturing, respectful, and trusting relationship will be established ensuring that your child will feel safe and secure while in our care, giving you - the parent - peace of mind.

At KiwiKids we tailor our care and education to suit the development stage of your child. As children progress through their development our focuses and teaching curriculum changes to accommodate their learning needs. Concepts such as social development, appropriate behaviour, and developing gross motor skills become a stronger focus.

Unique Challenges of Junior Preschool

At KiwiKids we understand that children in this age group can be very challenging, as they rapidly acquire physical and language skills and begin grappling with social reasoning.

Routines play an important part in the junior preschool. By having set routine times children are able to make sense and understand what is going to happen next – they are able to predict.

Through play children also evolve a sense of self. We work towards a balance between educarer stimulation and independent exploration by the child.

We also provide a service to the child and their parents and family and whānau supporting all in how to respond to these challenges.
